Love
1 Corinthians 13:8
Charity (love) never faileth; but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues they shall cease; whether there be knowledge; it shall vanish away.

According to the verse above, love is the only thing that will never fail or pass away. All other things will fail.

Love is a word that has been misused several times. People do all kinds of weird things in the name of love. Some kill, cheat, lie etc all in the name of love.

Theologians say there are three major types of love:
– Agape which is the unconditional and sacrificial love expressed by God
– Philio or brotherly love which is the love expressed among siblings and family members
– Eros which is the kind of love expressed among married people and lovers. This love is conditional based on attraction, beauty, temperaments etc

Agape which is the God kind of love is the one described in 1 Corinthians 13. God expects His children to express this kind of love

1 John 4:7-8 says that
Beloved, let us love one another
For love is of God and everyone that loveth is born of God and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God for God is love.

Dear student, worker or man or woman of God , God expects us to love unconditionally. This kind of love is described first in Romans 13:17-21 and then in 1 Corinthians 13. Read both passages carefully, then pray and ask God to help you love unconditionally.

1.Reflect on your relationship with your parents, siblings, spouse, children, friends, co-workers etc. Find ways of relating better with them as stated in Romans 12:17-21and 1 Corinthians 13.

May this love spread o’er the nations
Cause us oh Lord to arise
Give us a fresh understanding of brotherly love that is true
