Harden not your hearts
Hebrews 3:7-8
Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, today if ye hear His voice, Harden not your hearts, as in provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness ….)
To “harden” your heart is to remain stubborn or refuse to accept the gift of salvation even when you have heard the message of salvation several times.
The verse above reminds us of the stubbornness of the Israelites which left them wandering in the wilderness 40 years when they could have completed the journey to the promised land of Canaan in 40 days. They refused to obey the commands of the Lord in spite of the many miracles God had performed. There is a curse for disobedience which is listed in Deuteronomy 28.
As a student, worker and ambassador of Christ, insist on doing the right thing at all times even when you are tempted to disobey because of the cost and sacrifice it involves.
The three Hebrew boys, Shadrack, Meshack and Abednego as well as Daniel refused to obey the instructions of King Nebuchadnezar. They refused to obey even though it would cost them their lives. Read the story in the book of Daniel in the old testament.
Dare to be a Daniel to glorify the name of the Lord and increase the blessing and favor of God on your life
God be with you
Suggestions for success
1. Pray for courage and boldness to obey the Lord at all times.
2. Consider carefully how you can obey God’s commands in the way you perform your duties each day
Prayer
Meditate on the words of this hymn
All to Jesus
I surrender
All to Him, I freely give
I will ever love and trust Him
In His presence daily live
I surrender all
I surrender all
All to thee my blessed Savior
I surrender all
Amen
