Fear
1 John 4:18
There is no fear in love; but perfect love caseth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
Fear is an unpleasant feeling caused by the nearness of danger or pain. Faith activates the power of God whilst fear activates the power of the evil one.
Fear can cripple you and prevent you from doing things necessary to get you out of danger or harm. That is why the verse above says “fear has torment”.
An example to illustrate that fear has torment:
You find a snake on the path to your school. The prudent thing to do is to run as fast as possible. However, you may realize that because of fear you cannot run.
If you want to succeed in life then you have to replace every fear you have with faith or belief that God can and will fix every problem if you pray and trust Him.
Do not allow fear to destroy your academic work, career or ministry. In areas where you find you do not have enough knowledge or resources, pray and trust God to direct you on what to do
You may receive direction from the Bible, a christian friend or a man or woman of God. You could also have a dream or vision.
God be with you
Suggestions for success
1. Plan ahead for the coming week. Consider the areas or issues you did not handle well because of fear.
2. Pray for God’s direction and help.
Prayer
Meditate on the words of this hymn
Jesus Savior pilot me
Over life’s temptatious sea
Unknown waves before roll
Hiding rock and treacherous depths
Chart and compass
Come from thee
Jesus Saviour, pilot me.
Amen
