Mercy
Micah 7:18-19
Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and the remnant of His heritage? He retaineth not His anger for ever, because He delighted in mercy. He will turn again, He will have compassion upon us; He will subdue our iniquities; and thou will cast all their sins into the depth of the sea.
Usually, when you say God is merciful you are referring to His kindness, generosity and His ability to pardon or forgive our sins.
The verse above gives a perfect definition of God’s mercy. His mercy is not linked to our righteousness or unrighteousness. His mercy is available to all who repent from their sins and ask for forgiveness. The verse above says His anger does not last forever.
As a student, worker, man or woman of God if you find yourself in situations that require the Lord’s mercy like:
-Copying from a friend to help you pass your exam
-Producing a sub-standard report because you wasted all your time on social media
-Taking more transport money from church coffers than is needed for ministry work etc
Do not feel unworthy of God’s mercy. Come before Him with a broken and contrite spirit as Psalm 51:17 says and God will accept and forgive you
God be with you
Suggestions for success
1. Reflect on your activities in the past week. Identify issues that caused you to disobey God.
2. Ask for forgiveness
3. Determine in your heart to do better next time. Ask for grace and strength to remain faithful to God
Prayer
Dear Lord, be merciful to me, cleanse me from all my sin and make me whole
Amen.
