Nothing can separate us from God’s love
Romans 8:35
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution , or famine or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
Nothing can separate us from the love of God. Romans 8:35-39 emphasizes this by listing all the things that could separate us from the love of God. Then, affirms this truth by saying none of the things mentioned can separate us from the love of God.
Some people the ask, what about Isaiah 59:1-2
Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither is His ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that He will not hear.
The passage above says our sins separate us from God. Note it is the sin that God hates and not you. Once you repent, ask for forgiveness and cleansing. The relationship between you and God is strengthened.
Christians therefore need to examine themselves from time to time to ensure that they have not drifted away from God.
This is confirmed in 2 Corinthians 13:5 which says,
Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates.
As students, workers and ambassadors for Christ with tight weekly schedules, it important to set the weekend aside to reflect over your activities during the week and examine yourself if you have sinned and drifted away from God.
Ask for forgiveness and cleansing if necessary and pray for grace and strength to stay close to God and abide by His word and in His love
God be with you
