Build your church
Matthew 16:18
……upon this rock I build my church. And the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

The Google dictionary defines “build” as to construct or make stronger and intense.

Therefore the phrase “build your church” is a plea for God to make the church ( congregation of believers) stronger and intense.

The power and effect of the church of God must be felt strongly all over the world.

In the verse above, Jesus said He will build His church upon Peter one of His disciples. What did He mean by this?

This is my own opinion. Peter was the Apostle that was:
– Daring- he walked on the sea with Jesus
-Loyal – he was the only one who tried to fight those who captured Jesus by cutting off the ear of one of the soldiers
– Fearful and unreliable – he denied Christ before a young maid
– Bold – he was the first to declare the gospel to a crowd after the baptism of the Holy Ghost.

I believe the church is a congregation of sinners that have been redeemed by the blood of the lamb. People full of flaws as well as strengths like the Apostle Peter.

Dear student, worker and ambassador of Christ, you may not be perfect like the Apostle Peter, but that is alright. God loves people who are imperfect but willing to dedicate themselves to Him

2 Corinthians 12:9 says
My grace is sufficient for you for my power is made perfect in weakness…..

For the church to become stronger and intense christians need to surrender their inefficiencies to God and allow His grace to perfect us and make us powerful witnesses of the gospel
God be with you

Suggestions for success
1. Reflect over your weakness and flaws. Commit them into God’s hands and ask Him to make you perfect and more effective as an ambassador of Christ

Prayer
Meditate on the words of this hymn

For I am building a people of power
And I’m making a people of praise
Who will move through this land by My Spirit
And will glorify My previous Name

Build your church Lord
Make us strong Lord
Join our hearts, Lord, through your Son
Make us one, Lord, in your body
In the kingdom of your Son
Amen
