Be still

Psalm 46:10

Be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

The direction from the verse above to “be still” presupposes that God knows that as humans we find it difficult to keep still especially when all is not well or our expectation is not fulfilled.

How can you be still and stop fretting and worrying when:

1. The deadline for your assignment at school or work is approaching and you do not understand the topic, neither can you find the appropriate materials or literature to complete it

2.It is time to go to school or work and your car breaks down

It is not easy but you have to be Still meaning:

1. You have to trust God to give you answers and solutions. (Jeremiah 32:27)

2. You do not have to become restless, pacing up and down in your room or office. Sit down quietly, pray or sing praises and worship. The bible says, God will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are fixed on Him

3. Turn your attention to other things. Philippians 4:6 says ….by prayer and supplication with Thanksgiving….. Supplication involves pleading earnestly with God.

Dear student, worker and ambassador for Christ it is important to trust God completely when performing your duties, because the trials and temptations will come ,( James 1) but we need not give up . They are meant to build our character and not to break or destroy us.

God be with you

Suggestions for success

1. Reflect over your activities each week. Identify tasks that stress you and pray for God to help you complete these tasks excellently. God will prove Himself and be exalted

Prayer

Meditate on the words of this hymn

Be still my soul

The Lord is on thy side

Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain

Leave to thy Lord

To order and provide

In every change, He faithful will remain

Be still my soul

Thy best, thy heavenly friend

Through thorny ways leads to a joyful end

Amen
