Be gone unbelief
Exodus 4:1
And Moses answered and said, But, behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken to my voice: for they will say, The Lord hath not appeared unto thee.
In the verse above, Moses says, the people of Israel would not believe that God had sent him. He wanted God to give him a sign that would confirm that He had sent him.
” Unbelief” is having doubts in your mind that God can and will make a way out of a challenging situation or fulfill His promise.
James I:6-8 says
When we waver in faith or have doubts in our minds( unbelief), we cannot receive anything from God because a double minded man is unstable in all his ways (paraphrased)
If we want to receive answers to the requests we place before God or receive His promises then we should have no doubts about His ability to perform.
Unbelief should have no place in our relationship with God. Unbelief must go. We should have faith in God.
Hebrews 11:6 reads
But without faith it is impossible to please Him (God): for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.
Romans 4:20
He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief but was strong in faith, giving glory unto God
This verse from the new testament emphasizes that, Abraham received the promise of a child even in his old age when it was no longer possible because he had no doubt that God will fulfill His promise.
God be with you
How can I apply the word to my life?
1. Trust in God with all your heart at all times. Do not harbor doubt or unbelief about the ability of God to fulfill His promises
Prayer
Meditate on the words of this hymn
Begone unbelief
My Savior is near
And for my relief will surely appear
By prayer let me wrestle
And I shall prevail
With Christ in the vessel
I smile at the storm
Since all that I meet
Shall work for my good
The bitter is sweet
The medicine food
Though painful at present
T’will cease before long
And then Oh how glorious
The conqueror’s song
Amen
