Be holy as I am holy
Leviticus 11:44
I am the Lord your God: ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy: neither shall ye defile yourselves ….

God is holy because, He is separated from sin or has no association with sin and is devoted to proving His honor.

When God says we should be holy, I believe He wants us to separate ourselves from sin, and ask for cleansing for sins we have committed already ( sanctify ourselves).

To be able to separate ourselves from sin, we have to pray for God to:
Order our steps in His word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over us. (Psalm 119:133)

It is also necessary to confess our sins like 1 John 1:9 says.

1 Peter 1:16
Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

Being holy is not a choice we  have to make as Christians. It is a command from God and we must obey it like all other commandments of God.

How can I apply the word to my life?
1.Stay away from activities and events that could cause you to sin like:
-Watching pornographic movies
– Going to night clubs or parties that run late into the night
-Drinking alcohol, smoking or taking drugs etc

Prayer
Father in heaven, help me stay away from sin and glorify your name in all I do. Amen.
