Blessed to be a blessing!!!
Genesis 12:1
…… I will bless anyone who blesses you and curse whoever curses you. Through you shall all the nations be blessed. ( paraphrased)
The verse above is normally referred to as the call of Abraham. He was called to leave the familiar and venture into the unfamiliar in order to be blessed or receive the favor of God.
This is in contrast to the ministry plan Jesus let His disciples in Acts 1:8. They were to start their ministry from the familiar, Jerusalem and then venture to the unfamiliar, the rest of the nation’s.
These two verses of scripture above indicate that God’s call to each individual is unique in terms of:
– Geographical location
– Mission or exactly what you are expected to do.
Do not try to replicate or copy someone’s call.
To be blessed is to experience the favor of God in diverse ways. It could come in the form of healing, wisdom, intelligence, skill, wealth, material things etc.
To be a blessing is to be used by God as a channel to help others receive favors from God. You could transfer some of your wealth, wisdom, intelligence, skill etc. to others who also need it
Scripture says in Acts 20:35 that
It is more blessed to give than to receive
Live with the attitude of always wanting to share whatever you receive from God with others and you shall never lack anything.
Matthew 5:7
Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.
This verse from the new testament says if you want to receive compassion or mercy from God, then you have to show mercy to others.
Always remember
You are blessed to be a blessing!!!
God be with you
How can I apply the word to my life?
1. Give willing at all times to ease another’s pain or discomfort.
Prayer
Let this song be your prayer
My hands are blessed
With the blessings of the Lord
My hands are blessed
With the blessing of the Lord
Anything I touch
Surely must be blessed
Anything I do
Must be magnified
My hands are blessed
With the blessing of the Lord.
Amen
