Breathe on me breath of God
Numbers 6:24-26
The Lord bless thee and keep thee
The Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto
The Lord lift His countenance upon thee and give thee peace

“Breathe on me breath of God” is a plea for God to fill you with His Spirit, to empower you to fulfill your mission as an ambassador of Christ.

The passage above, is the blessing most ministers pronounce on their congregation after Sunday worship in church.

It is to protect and sustain them till the next Sunday. In other words, the minister is pleading for God’s goodness and mercy to cover them by activating the power of His Holy Spirit.

The bible says in Isaiah 60:1 that

Arise, shine for thy light is come and the glory of the Lord is risen upon you

Like the verse above says, the Spirit of God already dwells with us, all we have to do is to activate His power with a word of prayer

Acts 1:8
But ye shall receive power after the Holy Spirit has come upon you that you may be my witnesses in Jerusalem, then in Judea ….

This verse from the new testament emphasizes the importance of activating the power of the Holy Spirit everyday. Without it, we can do nothing. Why?

The verse above is an instruction from Jesus. His disciples were to wait for the Spirit of God to be activated in their lives or wait till God breath on them before starting their mission as ambassadors of Christ.

Jesus knew they could not do much without the Power of the Holy Spirit. Start each day with a simple prayer:

Breathe on me, breath of God.
God be with you

How can I apply the word to my life?
1. Do not attempt to preach the gospel or minister to the poor and needy ( giving them food, clothing, shelter, money etc.) without activating the power of the Holy Spirit in your life.

Let this hymn be your prayer

Breathe on me breath of God
Fill me with life anew
That I may love the way you love
And do what you would do

Breathe on me breath of God
Until my heart is pure
Until my will is one with yours
That I may endure
