Daily Word

Choose this day whom you will serve
Joshua 24:15

And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your father’s served on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Ammorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house we will serve the Lord.

This was Joshua the leader of the people of Israel who took over from Moses talking. In spite of all the miracles God had performed, the ten plagues against the Egyptians which did not affect the Israelites although they lived in the same land, parting the Red sea for the Israelites to walk through on dry land and escape from the Egyptians, providing food in the form of manna and quails and water in the desert. The Israelites failed to serve God faithfully and turned to other Gods.

The fact that you are alive today and healthy with a job, clothes and shelter is a gift and miracle from God. Will you serve God faithfully?

Matthew 6:24
No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

The verse above says you cannot serve two masters because you cannot be faithful to both. Most people pretend to be Christians, they go to church and take part in all church activities but as soon as there is trouble, they go to a shrine or turn to other gods because they want instant justice. God is too merciful and slow to judge.

You cannot serve two masters. Pray and think carefully and make a choice, God or mammon (the evil one)?
God be with you.

How can I apply the word to my life?
1. Be very careful about the decisions you take in life, make the bible the reference point for all your decisions and actions.
2. Do not let evil or negative thoughts control your mind. Try and dismiss them by thinking about good things- Philippians 4:8.

Prayer
Merciful Father, thank you for the gift of life. Help me to serve you faithfully and truly. Amen.
