Covenant keeping God
Deuteronomy 7:9
Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love Him and keep His commandments, to a thousand generations
A covenant is an agreement. In the bible we can find several covenants God made with His people.
In Genesis 9:11, God made a covenant with His people never to destroy the world again with a flood. And He has kept His promise. There have been floods but none has completely wiped out humans, animals and plants like it did in the time of Noah.
God made a covenant with Abraham to make him the father of all nations and He kept His promise
Before Jesus departed from the earth, He made an agreement with His disciples to send the Holy Spirit, so they should stay in Jerusalem until they were baptized with the Spirit. And He kept the agreement (Acts 1- Acts 2)
The verse above says God keeps His covenant to a thousand generations.
His covenant or agreement with His people today is to grant salvation and eternal life to all those who believe in Jesus ( John 3:16)
Hebrews 11:39-40
And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise
God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect
This passage from the new testament talks about another agreement God has with His people. Those who keep their faith in God shall not be disappointed.
It also confirms that God can vindicate and keep His promise to His own, it does not matter whether they are alive or promoted posthumous. God always keeps His covenant
Some of the great heroes of faith in Hebrews 11, did not receive the promise though they kept faith to the end. God’s ways are mysterious.
So never give up your faith, whether you see results or not, yours is to remain faithful to the end and God will do the rest.
