Flee youthful lust

Song of Solomon 8:4
I charge you, Oh daughters of Jerusalem, that ye stir not up, nor awake my love, until he please.

The youth are known to struggle with their emotions ( intense lust) because they are still developing to become adults. However, this advice from the Apostle Paul is not only to the youth but to adults as well. We must all refrain(keep away) from situations and actions that would lead to lust.

2 Timothy 2:22
Flee also youthful lusts; but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

Instead of encouraging lustful thoughts by our actions, it would be beneficial to focus on becoming righteous (seeking always to do what is right with the help of the Holy Spirit that lives in us ), developing our faith(believing that God can do the impossible), loving our neighbours and being at peace with all men.

How can I apply the word to my life?
1. Try to avoid situations that encourage lust. For example a female chatting with a male friend, late at night in a dark corner.
2. Pray and read the bible frequently and ask God to help you overcome unhealthy emotions and keep you away from actions that do not fall in line with what God wants us to do.

Prayer
All powerful God, thank you for your love and mercy towards me. Help me to overcome emotions that would lead me to sin. Amen.
