Forget those things which are behind
Isaiah 43:18
Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.

Many people allow sad events in their lives to cripple them for life. For instance someone who loses money through a private investment company, may never want to do business with any other private investment company.

In his/her opinion all private investment companies are swindlers. But there may be other private companies who are trustworthy and have better rates of return on investments as compared to government companies.

The Prophet Isaiah says it is better to forget about former things and not consider old things. They can prevent you from fulfilling your mission in life.

Philippians 3:13
Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before.

The Apostle Paul also advices against holding on to things of the past.

For example if you dwell on past successes, you become complacent and this can easily cause you to fail because you are over-confident.

If you dwell on past failures, you become over-cautious and this might prevent you from putting in your best to make you excel.

Leave the past behind, and look up to God, who has promised to make all things work for your good. Romans 8:28
God be with you

How can I apply the word to my life?
1. Trust in the Lord with all your heart
And lean not on your own understanding
In all your ways acknowledge Him
And He shall direct your path. Proverbs 3:5-6

Prayer
Father, help me to leave the past behind and trust in your promises to help me excel. Amen.
