God desires a broken and contrite heart [March 27,2022 ]
God desires a broken and contrite heart
Psalm 51:17
My sacrifice, Oh God, is a broken and contrite heat, you, God, will not reject.
When we go to church we offer three major kinds of sacrifice:
-A broken and contrite heart i.e a repentant heart
– A sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving
– A sacrifice of money from the income God blessed us with during the week.
From the story of Cain and Abel in the book of Genesis 4, we learn that God is not pleased or rejects sacrifices that are not genuine, sincere and from the heart.
This is confirmed by the verse from (Psalm 51:17). As we go to church this morning, let’s go with the right mindset, to worship God sincerely and from the heart
Romans 12:1
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service
God does not desire, just one day when you worship Him sincerely ( on Sunday) but a lifetime of dedicated worship and service to Him
God be with you
How can I apply the word to my life?
1. Think of practical ways you can worship God apart from Sunday service.
2. You could improve your morning devotions by adding short times of praise
3. You could introduce a time of reflection before you go to bed where you go over the day’s activities. Pick out areas you can improve and areas you need to cut out. Ask for forgiveness if you need to and end with a short time of praise and thanksgiving
Prayer
Let this song be your prayer
The greatest thing in all my life
Is serving you
I want to serve you Lord
I want to serve you Lord
The greatest thing in all my life is serving you.
Amen.
