God is our refuge and strength
Psalm 46:1
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

God is our refuge, means God is our shelter from pursuit and danger. God is our strength, means we derive our abilities and good qualities from God.

Putting the two together means, God is our shelter and the source of our abilities.

In Psalm 46, the Psalmist reminds himself that God is his shelter and the source of his abilities, therefore, there is no need to fear in the time of adversity. All you need to do is to be still (stop fretting and worrying and put your trust in God) and wait for the salvation of the Lord.

John 3:16
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him should no perish but have everlasting life

The verse above assures us that in addition to having God as our shelter and source of abilities, when we believe Jesus and accept the gift of salvation derived from His death and resurrection, we are blessed with eternal life or everlasting life.

How can I apply the word to my life?
1. Spend time reading and memorizing the Psalms it:
-Shows us how to praise and worship God
-Shows us what to do in the time of adversity
– Gives good advice on how to get closer to God and live a life that is pleasing to Him.

Let this be your prayer

The name of the Lord
Is a strong and mighty tower
The name of the Lord is a refuge for my soul
The name of the Lord is the pillar that I can lean on
The righteous run into the name of the Lord. Amen
