Daily Word

God will prosper the work of your hands
Proverbs 14:23
In all labor there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury

Another word for penury is extreme poverty. The verse above says labor or hardwork is profitable. That is, it yields benefits and rewards. However, empty talk without hard work brings extreme poverty.

If you check in the new testament, almost all the apostles had jobs. Peter, James and John were fishermen, Paul was a tentmaker etc.

Jesus did not pick men who had no skill or trade to earn a living. He picked responsible men.

Proverbs 6:6-9 says
Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways and be wise: which hath no guide, overseer, or ruler, provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest. How long wilt thou sleep, Oh sluggard? When wilt thou arise out of thy sleep.

Most men of God who work full-time for the church currently, write books, devotionals etc which they sell in addition to pastoring their churches.

No young man or woman should be idle. If you cannot find a job create something for yourself. God will bless and increase whatever you do

Ephesians 4:28
…….but rather let him labor, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.

The Apostle Paul in the verse above is encouraging all Christians to find a job that will yield income to meet his/her needs and help others as well.
God be with you

How can I apply the word to my life?
1. Be ready as a young man or woman to take up a job to meet your needs and help the less privileged. These days students are doing internship or taking up holiday jobs that earn some allowance

2. Churches and christian organisations could encourage the youth to do more soul-winning in their free-time by giving some sort of allowance or reward.

Prayer

Lord, help us to work hard in our careers at all times to glorify your name.
Amen
