Hope of the hopeless
Habakkuk 3:17-18
Although the fig tree fail to blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labor of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls:
Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation
The situation described in the passage above can be classified as a hopeless case. The crops are not bearing fruit and the life stock has been cut-off. He has no foodstuffs and no meat. What will he eat?
Yet even in such a gloomy situation the Prophet was willing to rejoice in the Lord because he knew the Lord was his salvation. He will deliver Him from the hopeless situation.
Proverbs 3:5-6 says
Trust in the Lord with all your heart( even in a hopeless situation) and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him. And He shall direct your paths.
2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is long-suffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
One thing that makes Christians often lose hope is the delay we sometimes experience when waiting for our salvation.
The verse above says God is not slack or slow to act. He is working everything out such that everyone will be saved. He does not want anybody to perish. All must be saved
God be with you
How can I apply the word to my life?
1. Never give up, even if your deliverance delays. Keep trusting God and hoping for the best.
Prayer
Think about the words of this hymn
All my hope on God is founded
He doth still my trust renew
Me through change and chance He guideth
Only good and only true
God unkwown
He alone
Calls my heart to be His own.
