I am with you [January 3,2023 ]

I am with you
Joshua 1:5

There shall not any man be able to stand before you all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will never leave you nor forsake you

In the verse above, God is assuring Joshua of His constant presence and help. Joshua has been given a special assignment, to lead the Israelites to the promised land.

This a difficult task because:
– The Israelites were stubborn. In spite of all that God had done for them, granting them freedom from slavery (it took ten difficult plaques). They crossed the Red Sea on dry ground and the Lord gave them victory over the Egyptians (they did not have to fight them) Yet they still doubted God
– There were nations they had to conquer before getting to the promised land.
-They were in the wilderness and they had to trust God for everything they needed to survive.

As christians we also have an important assignment to fulfill, leading others to Christ by presenting the message of salvation.

This is also a difficult task because:
– Improvement in technology and medicine gives humans the impression that they do not need God
-There are other deities ( Satan’s hosts or army), presenting quick solutions to diverse problems
-We are fighting an adversary we cannot see or use physical weapons of war to defeat.

The assurance God gave Joshua is God’s promise to all Christians. He is with us always, He will never leave us nor forsake us. We need not fear.

Isaiah 43:1-2 says
But now thus saith the Lord that created there, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by name; thou art mine. When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee, and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee….

Matthew 28:20

…..Io, I am with you to the end of the world

This verse from the new testament also assures us that God is with us now and till the end of the world.

Pray for God to reveal to you opportunities to present the message of salvation and give you the courage to take these opportunities
God be with you

How can I apply the word to my life?
1. Include soul winning on your agenda for each day. It does not have to be a long message. Chip in a word about God when someone is frustrated with his studies ( e.g you can do all thing through Christ who strengthens you) , ( you are more than a conqueror through Christ) etc.

Meditate on the words of this song

You are with me

You are the Lord and You say You will
So you are with me evermore
