I will extol you
Psalm 145:1
I will extol thee, my God, Oh King; I will bless thy name forever and ever
To extol means to praise highly. We extol our God and king because Revelations 1:8 says:
I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
God deserves our highest praise as the verse above says, He is the beginning and the ending, everything should start and end with Him.
Furthermore, we need to extol God because, He created us so He could fellowship with us. This is confirmed in Genesis 3:8 where God visited Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden.
In addition to this, God inhibits our praise, meaning He loves to hear us praise Him. Revelations 4:10-12 says the four and twenty elders in heaven never ceases to praise God.
Revelations 4:10-11
The four and twenty elders fall down before Him that sat on the throne, and worship Him that liveth forever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne saying,
Thou art worthy, Oh Lord, to receive glory, honor and power: for thou hast created all things and for thy pleasure they were created
This verse from the new testament clearly explains why we ought to praise God highly. He loves our praise.
God be with you
How can I apply.thf word to my life,?
1. Start and end each day by offering praise to God. Over the weekend you should do it for a longer time. If you do it for 30 minutes during the week, do it for an hour over the weekend.
Prayer
Meditate on the words of this song
Great is the Lord
And greatly to be praised
Great is the Lord and His greatness is unsearchable
I will extol thee
My Lord Oh my King
I will bless thy name forever
Everyday I will bless you
I will praise your name forever
Amen.
