If the Son shall set you free, you are free indeed [January 26, 2022 ]
If the Son shall set you free, you are free indeed [January 26, 2022 ]
If the Son shall set you free, you are free indeed
Isaiah 61:1
The spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord has anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; He hath sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and opening of prison to them that are bound.
To be free is to have your freedom. Freedom can be defined as the right to act, speak or think without restrictions. It is also the state of not being imprisoned or enslaved.
The freedom our Lord Jesus gave us through His death and resurrection, was releasing us from the chains of slavery that bound us to the evil one.
Because we were enslaved by the evil one we lost our right to choose between good and evil. Once you are enslaved to the devil, you always disobey God even when you do not want to.
The Prophet Isaiah was used by God to direct the people on how to get their freedom before Jesus came as the verse above says.
John 8:36
If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
When Jesus came, His death and resurrection paid the ultimate price and freed humans from the grip of the devil once and for all. All we have to do is to accept the gift of salvation, then we obtain our liberty through Christ.
There is a hymn that says
Would you be free from the burden of sin?
There is power in the blood
Power in the blood
Would you over evil a victory win?
There is wonderful power in the blood
There is power, power
Wonder working power
In the blood of the lamb
There is power, power
Wonder working power
In the previous blood of the lamb
God be with you
How can I apply the word to my life?
1. Accept the gift of salvation if you have not done so already.
2. Pray for grace and strength to live a victorious christian life.
Prayer
Thank you Lord, that you set me free. Help me to live as life worthy of the sacrifice you made.
Amen
