Learn to be obedient
1 Samuel 15:22
……Behold to obey is better than to sacrifice and to hearken than the fat of rams

Obedience involves doing exactly what you have been asked to do. Not following instructions partially to suit you.

The statement in the verse above was made by the Prophet Samuel to King Saul.

God asked King Saul to completely destroy the Amalekites. Humans, livestock and all they had should be destroyed. But Saul destroyed all the people and kept the king alive and best livestock to sacrifice to the Lord. He thought the Lord delighted in sacrifices.

But the Prophet Samuel explained that God preferred complete obedience.

The bible says in Deuteronomy 28:1 that
God demands complete obedience.

…to observe and to do all His commandments which I command thee this day….

Meaning observing only some of the commands will be counted as disobedience and we will not receive the reward attached.

Pray for grace and strength to obey all God’s commands. For instance, a great sacrifice like giving generously to the work of God or to the poor will not make up for failing to obey God completely.

John 2:5
And Mary said to the servants. Whatever He saith to you do it

This verse from the new testament made by Mary the mother of Jesus confirms what has been explained above.

She asked the servants to do whatever Jesus asked. It may look unwise to human understanding to fill pots with water when you need wine.

But when the pots were filled with water, Jesus turned it into wine.

In John 9:6-7 when the blind man asked for healing, Jesus used mud/ sand mixed with saliva to do the healing. It looked absurd but it worked.

Learn to obey God fully and you will be rewarded. Revelation 2:10 says

…..be thou faithful unto death and I will give thee the crown of life.
God be with you.

How can I apply the word to my life?
1. Learn to obey God’s command fully and completely.
