Leave a godly inheritance
Psalm 37:11
But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace

Every parent would like to leave something valuable or useful for his/her children when the Lord finally calls them home.

What inheritance are you thinking of leaving your children? Is it land, houses, cars, or money? The bible says in Matthew 6:19-20 that all these things can be destroyed or stolen.

It is better to leave a godlyy inheritance which has value both in heaven and on earth for your offspring.

Proverbs 22:6 says, train your child in the way he/she should go and when they are old they will not depart from it.

Ephesians 6:4
And ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord

The most valuable and useful treasure you can leave for your children in addition to to those worldly things is to train and nurture them in the way of the Lord as the verse above says.

Make sure they are born again and their lives are dedicated to serving God.

How can I apply the word to my life?
1. As a parent, find time daily or over the weekend to have family devotion.

2.As a young man or woman train yourself daily to have morning and evening devotions. You can pass this tradition over to your children.

3. If your parents are not Christians, try to witness to them and ensure they are born again.

Dear Lord, help me lay up treasure in heaven for myself and my family. Amen.
