Let love be the greatest
Leviticus 19:18
Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. I am the Lord.
The whole of Leviticus 19-9-18 talks about how we are to treat our neighbors or the people we come into contact with each day. We are to love them as ourselves. God also uses half of the ten commandments to show us how to treat our neighbors. The subject of love is very important to God. In fact, the whole gospel revolves around love.
Matthew 22:38 says
And the second is like, unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.
1 Corinthians 13: 13 says And now abideth faith, hope, and love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
The verse in Leviticus is very similar to the one in Matthew 22. 1 Corinthians 13 also establishes the fact that the subject of love is very important to God. It states that we should let love be the greatest. Love should be the basis of all we do.
God be with you.
How can I apply the word to my life?
1. Before we take any decision on how to respond to the behavior of others, ask yourself, can I do this to myself?
2. If the answer is no, then decide on something that would not hurt you or you will not like.
Prayer
Loving Father, thank you for the great love you show to me each day. Help me to love others as myself.
