Daily Word

Let your yes be yes and your no be no
Leviticus 19:12
And ye shall not swear by my name falsely, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I am the Lord.

There are people who lie and swear by the name of God that it is true. The verse above says God hates it when you swear by His name falsely. Do not make it your habit or you will incur the wrath or anger of God.

Just say what you mean as clearly and as simply as you can. There is no need to swear. And ensure by praying for grace that you do what you promise to do.

You are human, if you cannot fulfill your promise due to circumstances beyond your control, just explain what made you disappoint a friend or loved one. You do not need to swear.

Matthew 5:37
All you need to say is simply “yes” or “no” anything beyond this comes from the evil one.

The Apostle Matthew also emphasizes that we should mean what we say at all times.

For example if you say you do not drink alcohol, stay away from alcohol. Do not drink alcohol sometimes because you want to relieve yourself from the pressures and problems of life.

Stay true to God and yourself at all times.
God be with you.

How can I apply the word to myself?
1. Pray for grace from God to help you remain true to Him at all times and fulfill.your promises.

Prayer

Keep me shinning Lord
Keep me shining Lord in all I say and do
That the world may see
Christ lives in me and learn to love Him too.
Amen.
