My peace I give you
Psalm 72:7
In His days shall the righteous flourish: and abundance of peace so long as the moon endures
The verse above is a promise from God to give abundance of peace to the righteous. The righteous are those who have accepted the gift of salvation and are serving the Lord faithfully.
The Oxford English minidictionary defines peace as freedom from war or disturbances (trouble).
However, biblical definition of peace is not freedom from trouble, but calm or tranquility in the midst of trouble.
Philippians 4:6-7 says
Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
John 14:27
Peace I leave you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
The peace of God defined above is what Jesus promised to give us or leave us.
There is a song that says
My peace I give unto you
It’s the peace that the world cannot give
It’s the peace that the world cannot understand
Peace to live
Peace to know
My peace, I give unto you.
You have this peace once you accept the gift of salvation. The Holy Spirit comes to live in you and gives you this peace.
Activate this peace through prayer whenever you are faced with challenges
God be with you
How can I apply the word to my life?
1. Say a prayer whenever you are when you need the peace of God
Prayer
Dear Lord, give me your peace that surpasses all understanding.
Amen.
