Not by might nor by power!
Zechariah 4:6
…….the word of God to Zerubbabel. Not by might nor by power but by my Spirit saith the Lord

The phrase “Not by might nor by power” means we cannot use only our own abilities as humans to do certain tasks like God’s work. We need the supernatural power of God.

Moses did not part the Red sea by His own abilities, Daniel could not shut the mouth of the lions by himself, the Apostle Peter could not have escaped from the prison without the angel’s help whilst the guards were at post ( Acts ,12:5-11), the Apostle Paul could not have reached the Gentiles and written several books in the new testament without the power of the Holy Spirit as the verse above says.

The bible says in Acts 2:14 that:

After the baptism of the Holy Spirit, the Apostle Peter was able to minister boldly to the crowd because the Holy Spirit came mightly upon him.

In fulfilling our mission as ambassadors of Christ we should rely not only on our might ( strength) and power ( authority) but on the power of the Holy Spirit .

Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me

This verse from the new testament also emphasizes that we can do all things only through the strength given by Christ.

Lets learn to trust and obey
God be with you

How can I apply the word to my life?
1. Trust and obey God by accepting His superiority and power and living according to the principles in the bible.

Let this song be your prayer

Who is God besides our God?
Who is a rock besides our God?
A fortress and a shield
A tower of deliverance
Is He to all who trust in our God.

He trains my hands for war
And He leads me into triumph more and more
Praise to His name forever
