Restore the joy of my salvation [October 26, 2021]
Restore the joy of my salvation
Psalm 51:12
Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit
There is a song that says
Create in me a clean heart, oh God
And renew a right spirit within me
Cast me not away from thy presence oh God
And take not thy Holy Spirit from me
Restore unto me the joy of my salvation
And renew a right spirit within me.
The verse above and the song are both from Psalm 51, a Psalm King David wrote after commiting two grievous sins, adultery and murder.
King David committed adultery with Bathsheba and when he realized that she was pregnant, he gave instructions for her husband Uriah to be killed. ( 2 Samuel 11)
The major cause of King David’s sin was that he was at the wrong place. At a time when he was supposed to be on the battlefield as King, he decided to stay at home.
If you decide to stay at home or detach yourself from spiritual activities, you are likely to fall into sin. Attend church regularly and do your part as a church member by attaching yourself to work groups in church, singers, ushers, prayer warriors, counsellors etc. When you are active in church, it helps you stay away from sin.
However, if you unfortunately fall into sin, like King David, accept your sin, confess your sin and repent, then ask God for forgiveness and cleansing. Then He will restore unto you the joy and satisfaction you had when you accepted the gift of salvation.
John 16:20
Verily, verily, I say unto you, that ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy
The verse above says your sorrow shall be turned into joy. This happens when you ask God to deliver you from a difficult situation.
Always remember to turn to the Lord, in your time of trouble or time of need, He is the restorer of your joy. (Psalm 30:11)
God be with you
