Sanctify yourselves [September 15,2022 ]

Daily Word 🇬🇭

Sanctify yourselves
Joshua 3:5
And Joshua said unto the people, Sanctify yourselves: for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you

To sanctify is to purify or cleanse and set apart for a special or specific use.

1 John 1:9 says
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Sanctification begins with,:
– Confession of sins as I John 1:9 says, and
– Then repentance or a broken and contrite spirit as Psalm 51: 17 says

Why do we have to sanctify ourselves? We have to sanctify ourselves :
– In order for God to do wonders among us (Joshua 3:5)
– To restore and maintain our relationship with God (Isaiah 59:2)

John 17:19
And for thy sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth

Sanctification is so important to God that Jesus sanctified Himself so that we could also be sanctified. God hates sin therefore to be able to relate closely with Him you need to stay away from anything that is sinful according to the bible.
God be with you

Prayer
Think about the words of this song

As the Lord has called us out of this world
Let us stay outside
He is looking for a righteous people
Holy in His sight
Looking for a people
Who have chosen
That which pleases Him
And will freely stay away
From this world’s attitude and sin

He said sanctify yourselves for tomorrow
I will do wondrous things
Among you
Amen
