Strive to excel
Isaiah 60:1

Arise, shine for thy light has come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon you

The verse above is a call from the Prophet Isaiah to arise and shine or to strive to excel

He said whatever we need to be able to excel has already been given to us, “the glory of the Lord is risen upon us”.

God has done His part, we also have to do ours, let our lights shine through good works so that God will be glorified ( Matthew 5:16) and others will get the desire to surrender their lives to God and serve Him just as we do.

Like the prison guards in (Acts 16:25-31)asked Paul and Silas ( their chains were broken through an earthquake but they did not escape) What must we do to be saved?

Then we can present the gospel

2 Peter 1:5-8
And beside all this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to your virtue knowledge; And to your knowledge temperance; and to your temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; And to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

This verse from the new testament says in order to excel, we must make a conscious effort to exhibit these characteristics, faith, virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience , brotherly kindness and charity ( love).

If we have all these qualities then we can be successful ambassadors of Christ.

How can I apply the word to my life?
1. Determine in your heart and pray for God to give you the grace and strength to excel as an ambassador of Christ

Trim your feeble lamp my brother
Some poor sailor tempest-tossed
Trying now to make the harbor
In the darkness may be lost

Let the lower lights be burning
Send a gleam across the waves
Some poor fainting, struggling seaman
You may rescue, you may save.
