The greatest thing
Psalm 27:4
One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in His temple.

In the verse above, the Psalmist expresses the desire to be in the house of house of God all the days of his life, marvelling at His goodness and asking for His guidance. In other words he will like to serve the Lord all the days of his life.

Greatness in the bible is usually linked with humble service. This can be seen in Luke 14:11. It says

For whosoever exalted himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

Matthew 22:37-39
Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul and with all thy mind. This is the greatest commandment

In this passage from the new testament the greatest thing is linked to loving the Lord with all our heart, mind and soul.

The greatest things in our lives therefore as christians should be to:
– Humbly serve God
– To love God as our all in all
God be with you

How can I apply the word to my life?
1. Serving God involves obeying the Great Commission to reach out to the world with the gospel
2. Loving God involves obeying His commands and seeking to please Him at all times.
