The Sabbath
Exodus 20:8-9

Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work.

God gave us an example through the creation story on how to live. He created the world and all that we see in the world in six days. On the seventh day, He rested, and the seventh day is referred to as the Sabbath.

On the Sabbath day, we are to rest from our labour and worship the Lord. That is what the verse above refers to as keeping the Sabbath holy. Rest and worship God , to regain your strength and prepare you spiritually for the week ahead of you. Remember to thank God for helping and protecting you in the previous week as well.

Acts 18:4
And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks.

Jesus also gives us an example of being in the synagogue (Jewish church) and teaching the word on the Sabbath day.
Make every Sunday a special day , worship God in church and spend the rest of the day studying the word and watching christian programmes on TV and the internet as you relax.

How can I apply the word to my life?
1. Make a conscious effort not to work straineously on Sunday. Go to church, worship God with all your heart and rest.

Dear Lord , thank you for the gift of another day. Help me keep the sabbath day holy as you desire. Amen.
