Daily Word 🇬🇭

Time and chance
Ecclesiastes 9:11
……..the race is not to the swift nor the battle to the strong…..time and chance happeneth to them all.

Some bible translations replace the phrase ” time and chance happeneth to them all” with accidents happen or the unexpected happens.

The fastest athlete should win the race but he/ she can get cramps and fall out of the race. The strongest man should win the fight but he can get stressed up if the opponent keeps dodging the punches and lose the fight.

Psalm 27:13 says
I would have fainted unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord…

When the unexpected happens in life, let’s like the Psalmist believe that the goodness of the Lord will see us through.

1 Corinthians 6:12
All things are lawful onto me but not all things are helpful….I will not be ensnared by any.

Many people do not want to be christians because they think God has given us too many commands to obey.

The verse above says we can do anything we want ( all things are lawful onto me) but will everything be helpful.

For instance those who drink a lot of alcohol say we can drink as a medication for stomach upset. (1 Timothy 5:23) But will drinking excessively help you?

When you get drunk you say what you should not say and you embarrass yourself. The commands of the Lord are there to help us live an upright life and keep us from trouble with the law and society. The unexpected can happen but God is there to help you through.
God be with you.

How can I apply the word to my life?
1. Study the word and obey all it says.

Prayer
Think about the words of this hymn

Take my life and let it be
Consecrated Lord to thee
Take my moments and my days
Let them flow in ceaseless praise.
Amen.
