What is your greatest desire?
Psalm 27:4
One thing have I asked of the Lord and that will I seek after, that I may dwell in the house of the Lord , all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in His temple

Desire refers to your strongest yearning. What occupies your thoughts constantly? What do you spend most of your time, finances and energy on? Your answer to these questions will show you what your greatest desire is.

In the verse above, the Psalmist says, His greatest desire is to dwell in the house of the Lord all days of his life, beholding the beauty of the Lord and inquiring in His temple.

In other words, his greatest desire is to serve the Lord faithfully, obeying His commands and doing what pleases Him.

Scripture says in Psalm 34:1 that

I will bless the Lord at all times, His praise shall continually be in my mouth.

Like the Psalmist, as christians our greatest desire should be to:
– Praise and thank God always for His goodness and mercy
– Serve God faithfully all the days of our lives

Matthew 6:33
Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you

This verse from the new testament says we should put God first in all we do ( seek ye first the kingdom of God…..) and all will end well in our lives.

We may encounter obstacles, face danger or calamity, experience loss etc. but all will work for our good ( Romans 8:28)
