Work for the night is coming
Proverbs 13:4
The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat

The verse above is admonishing Christians not to be sluggards or lazy, because we will receive no rewards for being lazy. When we work diligently then we would receive rewards (be made fat).

I believe work in the bible refers to two things:
-First of all our professions or career that gives us income to provide our needs. There is a verse in the bible that says the one who does not work should not eat. 2 Thessalonians 3:10)
– Secondly , our work as ambassadors of God to fulfill the Great commission in( Matthew 28:19-20).

For the two kinds of work , there is a time line attached:
– The time for our circular jobs ends when we retire or grow too old
– The time for our ministry job ends when we die or when Christ comes back.

There is a hymn that says
Work for the night is coming
Work through the morning hours
Work while the dew is sparkling
Work mid springing flowers
Work when the day grows brighter
Work in the glowing sun
Work for the night is coming
When man’s work is done

John 9:4
I must work the work of Him that sent me, while it is day: night cometh, when no man can work.

The night in the verse above refers to the end of our ministry job when we die or Christ comes.

Therefore, whilst we are strong now let us put all our effort and resources into our ministry work and our circular jobs.

Revelations 22:12 says
Behold I come quickly and my reward is with me, to give every man according to his work.
God be with you

How can I apply the word to my life?
1. Work for God as though Jesus is coming soon for we do not know the time or the hour when He will come.

Dear Lord, help me fulfill my ministry.
