Daily Word

Yield not to temptation
Genesis 3:6
And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

The devil knew that the only way he could get Eve to disobey God was through deception. God’s words were true and Eve had no reason to think God lied.

The devil is still using this trick on us today. If he can get us to question the truth and validity of God’s words in the bible then we can easily disobey God. Do not give in to the devil’s tricks. Everything in the bible is true and it was put there for our own good. Do not yield to temptation

There is a hymn that says
Yield not to temptation for yielding is sin
Each victory will help you some other to win
Fight manfully onward
Dark passions subdue
Look ever to Jesus
He will carry you through

Memorize this hymn and let it guide you.

1 Corinthians 10:13
There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way of escape, that ye may be able to bear it

We should also bear in mind that God will never let us be tempted beyond our strength. He knew Job would be able to overcome whatever challenge the devil threw at him that is why he allowed him to be tested.

Furthermore, he will also give you a way to escape from the temptation.
God be with you

How can I apply the word to my life?
1. When you come against any temptation:
– Pray first for God to show you what to do. Just whisper a prayer in your head wherever you may be
– Try to find a bible verse that will show you what to do.
– Obey what the scripture says. For example someone accuses you falsely. Do not talk back harshly. Remember Matthew 5:44

Prayer
Almighty God, you are great and greatly to be praised. Help me to obey you at all times. Amen.
