DO UNTO OTHERS WHAT YOU WANT OTHERS TO DO UNTO YOU
DO UNTO OTHERS WHAT YOU
WANT OTHERS TO DO UNTO YOU
By Evangeline Unity Esaaba Folson
Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.
This verse is another way of saying love your neighbor as yourself as Jesus directed in Mark 12: 29 – 31
It sounds and looks like a very simple thing to do but is it really simple? As a human being you will definitely love yourself more and it is sometimes difficult to love your neighbor as yourself.
How did Jesus show that He loved others as Himself?
- He had compassion on the sick and healed them
Matthew 14:14
And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and H healed their sick.
The Oxford English Mini Dictionary defines compassion as pity and concern, in other word to be able to appreciate another’s pain and do something to help ease the pain. It is not enough to appreciate the pain it is important to do something to help.
Like the verse above says, Jesus was moved with compassion and it did not stop there, He healed their sick.
You may not be able to heal the sick like Jesus did but you can give the sick money for medical expenses, or food, without food most medications are ineffective
You may not be able to give the homeless a place to live but you could feed them or introduce them to an already established shelter etc.
If you find yourself in the same situation, you will love to have help, so be the hand of God and reach out to those in need.
He had compassion on the hungry and fed them
Matthew 15: 32 – 38
This is a long passage so I will concentrate on verse 32
Matthew 15:32
Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint on the way.
In the verse above, Jesus once again shows great concern for the multitude. He said I have compassion on the multitude………….
He did not even have food or the money to buy food for so many people but He still wanted to help.
Yes, He was god and had superior power. You may also not have money or enough food but share the little you have and God will satisfy your hunger and that of the friend you help.
Be willing to help others in any way you can when you come across people in need As you do it for others God will also make sure it is done for you
He related with sinners as well as believers:
Mark 2:17
When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of them Physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
Learn to mingle with all kinds of people. The sick, the poor, the weak, the rich, the famous etc.
If Jesus is:
The way, the truth, and the life………..John 14:6
Then He is the answer to all problems.
Thank God you are saved and make yourself available to help all classes of people. People need the Lord for all sorts of reasons and it is only when we learn like the Apostle Paul to be anything in order to reach out to all people, our work as ambassadors of Christ cannot be completed or accomplished. (1Corinthians 9:21-23)
Matthew 9:10-17
This passages talk about Jesus eating with sinners and tax collectors. The Pharisees and seduces frowned on this behavior, but they were wrong.
You cannot win someone over to Christ if you do not build trust. Lets learn to mingle and present the gospel.
Jesus Saves!
And the whole world must hear this, believe this and accept it.
The hymn writer said
We have hear the joyful sound
Jesus Saves!
Bear the news to every land.
Climb the hills and cross
the waves
Onward tis our Lord’s
Command.
Jesus saves!
