PROSPER AND BE IN GOOD HEALTH
PROSPER AND BE IN GOOD HEALTH
By Evangeline Unity Esaaba Folson
3 John 1: 2 – 4
Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
For I rejoice greatly when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walketh in the truth. I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.
Theologians believe that when the Apostle John was writing 3 John: 2 he was speaking the mind of God. It is God’s desire that we prosper and be in good health. As we pray for God to help us resolve this pandemic, let us remember that His utmost desire is for us to be in good health. What are some of the things we could do as children of God to make this desire of God become real in our lives? We must:
- Walk-in truth 3 John 1: 3 – 4, John 4: 23 – 24
- Claim the promises of God 2 Corinthians 1: 20
- Thank God for the victory we have in Christ 2 Corinthians 2: 14
Walk-in truth
3 John 1: 3 – 4
For I rejoice greatly when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth. I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.
John 4: 23 – 24
But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in Spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship Him.
God is Spirit and they that worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and in truth.
According to the Oxford English minidictionary being “true” is to be loyal, genuine. Therefore “walking in truth” can be said to mean, living or being loyal to God in all you do. John 4: 24 encourages us to worship God in truth. God can tell when your worship of Him is genuine and you are not pretending. Let us stop trying to do things to please those around us. Our utmost desire should be to worship God truthfully.
Claiming the promises of God
2 Corinthians 1: 20
For all the promises of God in Him are yea, and in him, Amen, Unto the glory of God by us.
The bible is full of the promises of God. We should not worry about claiming all of them because there are many of them. As the verse above says we can claim all of them.
During these unusual times let us claim God’s promise of “prosperity” and good health It is God’s will for us in these trying times.
In this period of economic recession, where most businesses are closing down, let’s ask God to provide for us and our loved ones. Ask for good health in the midst of this infectious virus. God is able and he can do much more than we can ever think or imagine.
(Ephesians 3: 20). If we are blessed by God, let’s remember to give to the less fortunate.
Thank God for the victory we have in Christ
2 Corinthians 2: 14 Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of His knowledge by us in every place.
According to this verse, God always causes us to triumph, therefore, He will see us through whatever challenges we may be facing because of this pandemic. Let us thank God that all will be well.
The hymn writer says:
When peace like a river attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll; whatever my
lot thou hast thought me to say
It is well, it is well with my soul.
Another one says:
Through the love of God our Savior all will be well
Free and changeless is His
Favor, all, all is well
Precious is the blood that healed us,
Perfect is the grace that sealed us,
Strong the hand stretch forth to forth to shield us,
All must be well.
Conclusion
God blesses us, so we can also bless others. If we can all make it through these uncertain times, then we must learn to share what we have with the less fortunate. Not only food clothing and money but also the gospel (salvation) which is the best gift you can give anyone.
If God is your Father and you can trust Him, then you can make it through any challenge you may face. You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you (Philippians 4:13).
