Once I Was Blind But Now I See
By Evangeline Unity Esaaba Folson
So they again called the man who was blind, and said to him, “Give God the glory we know that this man is a sinner”
He answered and said, “whether He is a sinner or not I do not know. I thing I know is: that though I was blind, now I see”
People use different names and appellations for Jesus:
- In Isaiah 9:6 He is referred to as wonderful, counselor, the mighty God, the everlasting father, the prince of peace
- The Apostle Peter referred to Him as “The Christ the Son of the living God” (Matthew 16:16)
- Other called Him
The son of man (Acts 7:56)
- Some referred to Him as
The carpenter’s Son (Matthew 13:55)
- In the passage above, the Jews called Him “A sinner”
What is Jesus to you and what has done for you? People might disgrace the Lord Jesus and call Him names but once you give your testimony like the blind man did.
“Once I was blind but now I see”
No one can disgrace with you on the power of God, because you have testified of what He has done for you.
It is always important to share your story or testify of what the Lord has done for you because :
- No one can disgrace a miracle
Daniel 3:16-18, Acts 16:25-26
- People need the Lord
Psalm 121:1-2, Ephesians 3:20
- The Lord is mighty to save
Zephaniah 3:17, Romans 15:13
No One Can Disregard a Miracle
Daniel 3:16-18
Shadrach, Meshack and Abedinago, answered said to the King, O Nebuchadnezzar, We are not careful to answer there on this matter.
If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us out of thine hands, O king
But if not, be it known unto thee O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.
The three young men mentioned in the passage above, remained faithful to God in spite of the great danger they faced. Not bowing to the god or deity attracted a penalty of being put in a burning furnace. They were ready and willing to die even if God did not save them. The fire could not burn them. The King and his people could not disregard the miracle and all of them pledged to serve Jehovah God most high.
Once they were blind and could not see the power of God but God opened their eyes with miracle.
Acts 16:25-26
And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God; and the prisoners heard them. And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prisons were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone’s bands were loosed.
Paul and Silas were arrested, beaten and imprisoned for preaching the gospel but they did not give up. In the passage above they kept praising God despite their pain and discomfort.
God answered through an earthquake that opened all prison doors and broke all chains. But they did not escape. This was a miracle that led to the salvation of the prison guards and prisoners. Once they were blind but now they have seen the power of God manifested in the prison. They could not disregard this miracle.
People Need The Lord
Psalm 121:1-2
I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help comes from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. Most people need help. People have various issues and challenges they need to resolve. They need the healing power of Jesus. The saving power of Jesus and the resurrection power of Jesus. They need to see the power of God at work so they can also tap into it.
Ephesians 3:20
Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
The verse above says, God can do much, much more than we can ever ask or, think or imagine. God has answers to all issues. Jeremiah 32:27
Says:
Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh, is anything too hard for me?
He can meet your need if you trust Him.
The Lord is Mighty to Save
Zephaniah 3:17
The thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; He will save, He will rejoice over thee, He will joy over thee with singing.
The verse above confirms that God is able to save. It does not matter what you are going through, be it difficult, challenging, painful etc. God is more than able to save, when you call on Him through prayer.
Romans 15:13
Now the God of hope fill you with all joy, peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope through the power of the Holy Ghost.
God is able to give us all the joy and peace we need to live as successful Christians living lives that will draw others to the saving power of Jesus.
We must prove to the world that Jesus is mighty to save. Once we were all blind (unsaved) but now we can see, we have been saved and our spiritual eyes have been opened.
This should be our song each day: Romans 3:23
Says we have all sinned…
Only a sinner
Saved by grace
Only a sinner
Saved by grace
This is my story
To God be the glory
I’m only a sinner
Saved by grace
