PEACE BE STILL
PEACE BE STILL
By Evangeline Unity Esaaba Folson
Psalm 65: 7
Which stilleth the noise of the seas, the noise of their waves, and the tumult of the people.
Psalm 89: 9
Thou rulest the raging of the sea: when the waves thereof arise, thou stilleth them.
Psalm 107: 29
He maketh the storm a calm so that the thereof are still.
Matthew 8: 23-27
And when He was entered into a ship, His disciples followed Him.
And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with waves: but He was asleep.
And His disciples came to Him, saying, Lord save us: we perish.
And He said unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then He arose and rebuked the wind and the sea, and there was a great calm.
But the men marveled, saying, what manner of man is this, that even the winds and sea obey Him.
Mark 4: 39
And He arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
All the scripture quoted from five different places in the bible above has one message, “Jesus is able to calm the storm”.
Note the first three bible references are found in the old testament, that is, it was prophesied or said even before Jesus came into the world. This is also a confirmation that the new testament is mainly a fulfillment of prophecies made in the old testament.
The new testament verses relate the prophecies to a real-life situation. Jesus and His disciples were in a boat at sea. Jesus falls asleep and there is a storm. His disciples full of fear woke Him up. He wakes up and commands the storm, “Peace be still”. The storm calms down and stops immediately. The disciples are filled with wonder, what kind of man can speak to calm the storm?
Lessons from Matthew 8
- The storm is a figurative representation of the challenges and problems in our lives.
- It is important to note that Jesus is always there with us through the Holy Spirit who lives in our hearts when we are born again.
- Though He is with us in the storm, He wants us to ask for His help.
- He is telling us that no matter how fierce the storm may be, it only needs a word or command from Jesus.
- We are not to fret or fear like the disciples were because Jesus is in control.
- All we have to do is to be still, just relax and wait for Him to act.
Psalm 46: 10 says:
Be still and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
The word for the moment
Almost all the important and major prophesies in the old testament have been fulfilled apart from the rapture and the second coming of Jesus.
The current world situation, in my opinion, is a call for everybody to take a second look at his/her life.

Are you saved or born again?
Romans 10:9-10 That if thou shall confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved. For with the heart, man believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.
-
Are you living a good Christian life, by obeying all of God’s commands in the bible?

Revelations 22: 20 He which testified these things said, Surely I come quickly. Amen.
