Take nothing in exchange for your soul
By Evangeline Unity Esaaba Folson
Mark 8:36
For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and loose his own soul
The apostle Judas Ischariot is a major example of a person in the bible who exchange his soul for wealth by betraying Jesus with 30 pieces of silver. Later Judas regretted and returned the silver but it was too late.
Matthew 27:3-6
There is a song that say:
Silver and gold, I gain in exchange for my soul.
s-i-l-v-e-r and gold, I gained in exchange for my soul
this is Judas song of regret.
There is nothing worth taking in exchange for your soul. Why? Because:
- Your soul is the only thing that leaves after death
Ezekiel 18:4
Corinthians 15:53
- It is your soul that communes with God.
Psalm 103:1-2
Corinthian 15:35
- It is your soul that gets saved
Proverbs 11:30
2 Corinthians 4:16
Your soul is the only thing that leaves after death
The key verse Mark 8:36 says: if you gain everything in the world and loose your soul, you have lost everything. This is because all the things you can gain in the world is of no use to you after you die.
Ezekiel 18:4 reads;
Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of father so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sineth shall die
The soul never dies; it is the only thing that goes back to God to spend eternity. Every soul belongs to God because he created us.
If you loose your soul because you exchanged it for something else, you will spend eternity in hell with the evil one and his fallen angels.
1 Corinthians 15:53
For His corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
The body is perishable because it was made from dust or clay, but the soul that is saved leaves forever. Ezekiel 18:4 says the soul that sinneth shall die. You must stay away from sin so you can spend eternity with God in heaven
It is your soul that communes with God
Psalm 103:1-2
Bless the Lord, o my soul and all that is within me, bless His holy name. bless the Lord, o my soul, and forget not all his benefits.
In the verse above, the psalmist is directing His soul to praise God or bless the Lord because it’s the soul that can commune and communicate mentally and spiritually with God. If you exchange your soul for wealth or supernatural powers, that does not come from God, you cannot communicate with God as you should. There will be a break in the relationship you have with God. You cannot work out your salvation with fear as the bible says and you cannot spend eternity with God in heaven.
1 Corinthians 15:25
And so it is written, the first man Adam was made a loving soul. The last Adam was made a quickening sprit.
The soul is a sprit being as the verse above says, God is also a sprit being, therefore it is your soul that can communicate effectively with God. If you can loose your soul, you cannot communicate well with God
It’s your soul that gets saved
Proverbs 11:30
The fruits of the righteous is a tree of live, and he that winneth souls is wise.
The verse above implies that it is the soul that gets saved when you receive the gift of salvation. Furthermore, the verse also says, those who win souls are wise or prudent
2 Corinthians 4:16
For which cause we faint not; though our out ward man perished, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.
According to the verse above it is outward man that perishes (grows old and weak and eventually decays in death). However, the inward man is renewed day by day.
Your soul that is saved gives you the opportunity to spend eternity with God In heaven. Do not exchange your soul for anything. It qualifies you to gain eternal life.
