What shall I render to the Lord for all His benefits?
What shall I render to the Lord for all His benefits?
By Evangeline Unity Esaaba Folson
What shall I render unto the Lord for all His benefits towards me?
In other words, what shall I or can I give back to God to show my appreciation for all the blessings I have received?
Verses 13-14, and of the same Psalm tells us about some of the things we can do to show our appreciation to God.
Psalm 116:13-14
It says
I will take the cup of Salvation, and call upon the name of the Lord. I will pay my vows unto the Lord now vows unto the Lord now in the presence of all His people.
Another translation of the passage above says
I will lift high the cup of salvation – a toast to God! I will pray in the name of God; I will complete what I promised God: I will do it together with his people
The Psalmist is saying that to express his appreciation to God, he will
- “lift high the cup of salvation”
In other words he will Testify about the blessing You can receive When You accept the gift of salvation. He will recommend That all people get Saved. This is one Of God’s greatest desires expressed in 1 Timothy 2:3-4
- “I will pay vows unto the Lord now in the presence of all his people”

Meaning, he will give this great testimony of what god has done after he received salvation in the presence of His people (probably in church or any other Christian gathering.) this will
- Encourage people to accept the gift of salvation.
- Increase his impact, that is, he can reach a lot more people at the same time.
Psalm 116:17-19
It says:
I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the Lord.
I will pay my vows unto the Lord now in the presence of all His people in the courts of the Lord’s house, in the midst of thee, O Jerusalem. Praise ye the Lord.
The Psalmist says in the passage above that apart from testifying about the blessings he has received since he accepted the gift of salvation, and recommending salvation to all, he will also offer a “sacrifice of thanksgiving “unto the Lord. He is doing all the above to show his appreciation to God for all He has done for Him.
“A sacrifice of thanksgiving in biblical terms involves offering to God something that will cost you. For example, you get a business deal that brings you US$1.00 million. A worthy sacrifice of thanksgiving will be to give about US$200,000 – US$500,000 as an offering. This is just an example. To him, giving his offering in the presence of the people God was very important because he will be recommending God to all as the Great and Mighty God.
Conclusion
To conclude, I will like to encourage each of us to reflect over activities and events throughout the year. Count all your blessings one by one and determine in your heat what you can do to show your appreciation to God.
Meditate on the words of this song and make it your prayer:
Count your blessings name them one by one. Count your blessings see what God has done. Count your blessings Name them one by one. Count your many blessings see what God has done.
