Ye are of more value
By Evangeline Unity Esaaba Folson
But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.
The verse above forms part a message Jesus gave on “fear”. The full message encourages us not to be anxious or afraid because we are more ‘important’ or ‘precious’ to God. If even a sparrow is kept alive, gets all the food and nourishment it needs without working for it, then ‘you’ made in His image are of more value.
Psalm 8:4 says
What is man, that thou art mindful of him? And the son of man, that thou visitest him?
In Matthew 6:25-34
Jesus assures us that we need not worry about our safety, nourishment, clothing or shelter because God takes care of the lives and birds and we are more important or of more value therefore God will ensure our safety and survival.
Why does God keep assuring us that we are of more value? It is because of:
- The lies and deception of the evil one
- Revelations 12:10
- Genesis 3:1-6
- The cares of this world
- Matthew 11:28-30
- Ecclesiastes 1:2-3
- Establishing our salvation
- Hebrew 10:23
- Joel 2:32
The lies and deception of the evil on
Genesis 3:1-6
Conversation the serpent or evil one had with Eve, the first woman God created. Satan knew that God had directed Adam and Eve not to eat just one fruit from one tree. That is the very one the evil one deceived them to eat. He said when they ate the fruit from that tree they would become like God. But God said they would die. When they ate the fruit they did not die physically and their eyes were opened. Meaning God had lied to them. In actual fact they died spiritually and destroyed the close relationship they had with God.
But because “we are of more value” or important to God, he made a way for us to be reconciled to Him through the death and resurrection of Jesus. When we accept the gift of salvation, we restore our relationship with god and we become very close because we are important to God.
Revelations 12:10
Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say:
“now have come the salvation and the power and the Kingdom of our God, and the authority of His Messiah. For the accuser of our brothers and sisters, who accuses them before our god day and night has been hurled down.
Just like satan accused Job before God in Job chapter 1, he accuses each of us before God daily because he is the accuser of the brethren.
Job was very important to God, Job was faithful and devout before God. God said there was none like him in all the earth. Satan said, he is good because, you have blessed him so much. God allowed satan to test Job and he proved he was good as God said. You are also of more value can God place a bet on you like He did in Job’s case?
The cares of this world
Ecclesiastes 1:2-5
“vanity of vanities” says the preacher vanity of vanities All is vanity. What does man gain by all the toil at which he toiled under the sun?
Another translation replaces the world “vanity” with “Useless”. Meaning everything is useless? Waking up early, going to bed late and toiling each day for your daily bread.it is all useless because one day you leave all the things you are toiling day and night.
Sometimes the meaningless routine of this world or the cares of this world takes us away from god.
We spend less time with God each day because of the cares of this world forgetting that it is only our soul that will spend eternity with God. All the things we are working so hard to acquire will be destroyed. That is why you are of more value to God.
Revelations 21:1 says
Then, I saw a new heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer _ _ __ _ _ _ _ ___ _
In Matthew 11:28-30
Jesus sympathizes with us. He knew how the cares of this world weighed us down. He invites to come unto Him and He will lessen our burden because we are of more value to Him.
Establishing our salvation
Joel 2:32
And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved; for on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be deliverance, as the Lord has said,
Joel 2:30-31
Describes how tremble and scary the “Day of the Lord” will be. But, in Joel 2:32, the prophet Joel assures us that those who call on the name of the Lord will be saved no matter what happens. Because we are important or of more value to God.
Hebrews 10:23 says
Let’s hold firmly to the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.
Some translations say, Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering (for He is faithful that promised)
Sometimes you may face trails and temptations connected to your faith and you may feel like renouncing your faith. Never give up your faith, no matter what happens to you, hope for the future even after this world is destroyed (Revelations 21: 1-2)
You are of more value to the Lord and He has prepared a future in heaven with Him. If you renounce your faith you cannot get into heaven.
Conclusion
Believe beyond any doubt that you are of more value to the Lord. He has your welfare at heart. Trust Him completely at all times. You are very important to God
