YOUR FUTURE IS SECURE
BY EVANGELINE UNITY ESAABA FOLSON
JEREMIAH 29:11 – 13
For I know the thoughts that I think towards you said the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.
And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
Every young man or woman wants a Secured future. Their parents and guardians also want a secure future for them. They are sent to school to acquire professions that will help them obtain Security in their finances and give them a good social status and comfort in life.
God our heavenly Father also has plans to give us a secure future. Jeremiah 29:11 says God wants to give us an expected end. That is, God seeks to give us the future we desire for ourselves if it falls in line with His plans for our lives.
Some bible translates of Jeremiah 29:11 reads:
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
If God plans to prosper us, then we have no need to fear, our future is secure. What do we have to do to enjoy this prosperity? We must:
- Study and meditate on the word of God (Joshua 1:8).
- Obey the commandments of the Lord (Deuteronomy 28:1)
- Have faith (Hebrews 11:1)
- Seek the Lord (Jeremiah 29:12-13)
STUDY AND MEDITATE ON THE WORD OF GOD
JOSHUA 1:8
This book of Law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shall meditate on it day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shall make thy way prosperous, and thou shall have good success.
According to this verse if you want to be prosperous you must study the word, meditate on it (memorize and apply to your life) day and night, and obey what it says.
OBEY THE COMMANDMENTS OF THE LORD
DEUTERONOMY 28:1
And it shall come to pass, if thou shall hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and do all his commandments, which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all the nations of the earth.
This verse says we need to obey God’s commandments if we want to be high above all nations (prosper). To be able to obey the commandments we need to study them from the Bible. When we study and know all God’s Commandments in His word, we must strive (do all it takes) to obey them all.
HEBREWS 11:1
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Having faith involves believing what the word of God says and acting on it. It also entails calling the things that be not as though they were. God has promised that He will prosper you, confess this promise daily and claim it by faith through Christ. This can be done through prayer.
SEEK GOD
JEREMIAH 29:11-13 is quoted at the beginning of this article. It says we should call upon the Lord, pray unto Him and He will hear us. It also says we should seek the Lord with all our hearts and we will find Him. We can seek the Lord by developing a close relationship with Him. Read the word, pray often, and learn to worship and praise the Lord at all times.
So far I have explained how you can secure your future here on earth. But life does not end after death, God has promised us a secure future in heaven as well.
JOHN 14:1 – 3 SAYS:
Let not your heart be troubled ye believe in God, believe also in me.
In my father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto myself, that where I am, there ye may be also.
Jesus promised His disciples that He was going to prepare a place for them in heaven. He would come back and take them with Him.
This promise is not only to the disciples but for all God’s children or Christians. It is very important that we understand God’s gift of Salvation and accept it. Follow all the instructions on how to live a victorious Christian life in the world. We must also be prepared always for the Second coming of Jesus mentioned in John 14:3 so that when He comes back we can go with Him to enjoy life in heaven.
CONCLUSION
God wants us to prosper here on earth and also when we live with Him in heaven. The ticket we need to enjoy a prosperous life here on earth and in heaven is to accept the gift of Salvation.
After being saved we need to:
- Live according to God’s commandments in the bible.
- Pray without ceasing
- Praise and worship God always
- Be ambassadors for Christ spread His word and win souls for Him
