FROM GLORY TO GLORY
FROM GLORY TO GLORY
BY EVANGELINE UNITY ESAABA FOLSON
But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
Another translation says,
As all of us reflect the Lord’s glory with faces that are not covered with veils, we are being changed into His image with ever-increasing glory. This comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
According to this verse, every day we are being changed into the image of God from one degree of glory to another (from glory to glory).
In order words, we are constantly being transformed into better people such that we take on the image of God. We become more like an image of God when we:
- Focus on the things of God
2 Corinthians 4:18
- Survive Adversity
2 Corinthians 4:8-9
- See God in every situation
Romans 8:28
- Thank God in all circumstances
2 Corinthians 2:4
1 Thessalonians 5:18
2 Corinthians 4:18
While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
The things which are seen like property (land, houses, cars etc) and material needs (clothing and accessories, wealth etc) do not last. You can lose everything within a short time like Job did (Job 1:20-22)
However, the things which are not seen like salvation, eternal life, and all other things connected with our faith and relationship with God last forever.
For instance, if this world passes away (Revelations 21:1) reads
And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
Our property and the things we possess will be of no use when this earth passes away. We will be judged based on our relationship with God and the things we did to expand the kingdom of God.
As we continue to work for God each day, by winning souls and obeying His commands we are changed or transformed into the image of God.
2 Corinthians 4:8-9
We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed.
The verse above gives different Scenarios (types or situations) of adversity. No matter what you go through as a Christian or child of God, God has you covered, He will not allow anything to overwhelm you.
There might be times when it looks like all is lost, but then God will step in if you call on Him to move on your behalf.
Each adversity will refine you or make you a better person. The lesson from each challenge will gradually change you into the image of God from glory to glory.
Romans 8:28
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.
All things, that is good and bad can be turned around by God to favour us. It does not matter how bad it affects you, God can and will turn it around for your good if you will trust Him and look up to Him for help.
God is faithful and once you truly depend on Him, He will make a way. Even when there seems to be no way to keep trusting Him. God works in mysterious ways.
As you keep trusting Him, He will change you into a better person and give you the experience and knowledge you need to help other people as well.
THANK GOD IN ALL CIRCUMSTANCES
2 Corinthians 2:14
Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.
1 Thessalonians 5:18
In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Concerning you.
Be ready and willing to thank God in whatever situation you find yourself in. It is not easy to thank God when everything around you is in chaos. However, thank God constantly for the victory or success when you find yourself in trying situations. When you are blessed or successful in an endeavour, remember also to thank God.
In all situations, make the confession that “It is well”.
