Not Tempted Beyond Your Strength
Not Tempted Beyond Your Strength
By Evangeline Unity Esaaba Folson
There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
The bible says in Genesis 1:27 that:
So God created man in His own imago, in the image of God created the him; make and female created He them.
Scripture also says in Isaiah 43:1 that. But now thus saith the Lord that created thee, O Jacob, and He that formed thee, Israel, Fear not! I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.
The two verses quoted above indicates that God created each of us, He knows us through and through. Our weaknesses and our strengths. Therefore as the title of this article says He will not let us be tempted beyond our strength.
Furthermore, the verse from 1 Corinthians 10 says that because He will not allow us to be tempted beyond our strength, He provides a way of escape, a way to make our temptation bearable.
Some translations replace “a way of escape” “a way out”
This implies that whenever you find yourself overwhelmed by your challenges:
- Pray for god to show you the way out:
Psalm 119:18
Ephesians 3:20
- Search the bible for answers
Ecclesiastes 1:9-10
Psalm 119:105
2 Timothy 2:15
- Be willing and ready to obey
Isaiah 1:10-20
1 Corinthians 9: 19-23
Pray for God to Show you the way out
Psalm 119:18
Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.
In times when you feel helpless, not knowing what to do or where to turn to, pick your bible and pray for God to open your eyes as you read the word and give you a verse of scripture to guide you through the challenge or temptation. That is what the verse above says.
Once you pray and search the scripture, the Lord will give a word to guide you out of your temptation. A word to renew your strength and give you (Isaiah 40:31) Ephesians 3:20
Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
This verse assures us that God has all the power, authority, and ability to see us through our temptation. He can give us much more strength, Knowledge and wisdom to get through our temptations than we can ever imagine.

Ecclesiastes 1:9-10
The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which should be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.
Is there anything whereof it may be said, see, this is new? It hath been already of old time, which was before us.
The passage above can put any mind in turmoil at rest. The word has been in existence for several thousands of years ad everything that happens is a reflection of something that happened years ago. Do not stress yourself that you are odd, or God does not love you.
God love you more than you can ever understand. He has put answers to whatever problem we might encounter in the world. Search the scriptures for answers whenever you are unsure of what to do.
Psalm 119:105
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. Let the word of God guide and direct you like the Psalmist states in the verse above. He knows the way out of your temptation and He will guide you safely to victory. When you trust Him.
2 Timothy 2:15
Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Study the word of God so well that you know what scripture to use as your basis to pray for every temptation. The appropriate scripture will strengthen you physically and emotionally to bear and overcome your temptations.
Be willing and ready to Obey
Isaiah 1:19 -20
If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword; for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.
In the passage above, the reward for obedience and the price to pay for disobedience are explained. When you are obedient, you will eat the good of the land. Other translations replace ‘good of the land’ with the good of the land or you will have plenty to eat or you will feast like kings. Meaning, you will be satisfied by receiving all your needs. But when you are disobedient you will be devoured by the sword of your enemies or be completely destroyed.
In other words, if you are obedient, and do all the bible commands us to do, you can overcome your temptations.
1 Corinthians 9:19-20
In the passage quoted above, Paul says, he was willing to do anything possible according to the will of god in order to bring souls to the Kingdom of God.
If you have this attitude, the apostle Paul describes in the Passage above you please God and He will help you overcome your temptation. No matter how severe the temptation you can bear and overcome it because you receive strength from the Lord.
To conclude, it is important to meditate on the words of the song below and make it a Prayer:
- I need thee every hour
Most gracious Lord
Not tender voice like thine
Can peace afford
I need thee, oh I need thee
Oh bless me now my
Savior
I come to thee
- I need thee every hour
Stay thou close by
Temptations lose their power
When thou art nigh
I need thee Oh I need the
Every hour I need thee
Oh, bless me now, my Saviour
I come to thee.
